2019 saw Bertram Group raise over £5,668.29 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA), helping this essential service to continue with their very important work.

Colleagues across the business really got behind our fundraising efforts after voting the EAAA as the charity they wanted to support in 2019. Their fundraising activities included bake sales, a charity football tournament, wearing yellow for the day, selling EAAA tote bags, and several raffles. One of our colleagues – Ruth Moate – even completed an English Channel swimming challenge. It took Ruth 66 days, 17 hours and 17 minutes and 21 trips to the pool to complete, and in total she swam 1,411 lengths. Ruth took this on as a personal fitness challenge but also to support us with our fundraising.

Throughout the year we also donated a percentage of all sales made in our in-house bookshop.

Catherine Rix, HR Director at Bertram Group, said: “As a local charity, our employees have seen first-hand the great work the EAAA does in their communities and they were all so passionate about raising money for such a great cause and supporting the EAAA with their Mission 24/7.

Colleagues have really supported our fundraising activities and we’ve also used it as an opportunity to bring teams together, have some fun and learn more about the EAAA which provides such a crucial service across East Anglia.”

We are very pleased that our colleagues have voted to support EAAA again in 2020, which is especially exciting as the EAAA have moved into our head office building to become our neighbours this year. The EAAA are grateful for our support and said:

“Bertram Group really got behind EAAA in 2019 and raised an incredible amount. The fact that colleagues have voted to support us again in 2020, with the same £5,000 target, is fantastic and means so much to us to have strong local support for our life-saving charity. We’re keen to progress our operation so that we are operational 24/7 by helicopter and can only do that with continued support from the community, so a huge thank you to Bertram Group for all they are doing for us.”

We have also worked with the EAAA to give as many colleagues as possible some basic life support and first aid skills by running a number of CPR training sessions at our office in Norwich. Currently only 1 in 10 people in the East of England know how to perform CPR and the EAAA is on a mission to increase this number as it could help save someone’s life
